Global Inflation: From Bad To Worse?
May 27, 2026 – 10:00 AM (EST)
MRB has made a series of non-consensus but ultimately accurate forecasts on consumer price inflation this decade. Specifically, our frameworks correctly warned that the pandemic was an inflationary, rather than deflationary, shock and that the subsequent disinflationary “transitory” narrative was misplaced. Although we called the 2022 peak, we also cautioned that core CPI inflation would bottom well above its pre-pandemic trend in the U.S. and aggregate developed world, which has indeed been the case. MRB’s outlook for 2026 was that inflation would start to firm anew, which has already been panning out (despite temporary BLS distortions in the U.S.). It is now time to write the next chapter!
Join us for an MRB Roundtable Chat where Managing Partner and Global Strategist Phillip Colmar will lead a discussion with other MRB Strategists, focusing on the outlook for global inflation. The key issues to be addressed include:
- What is the true underlying run-rate of inflation in the developed world, and has this fundamentally shifted in recent years?
- How are cyclical inflationary pressures evolving?
- Is the emerging world still a source of deflation?
- Will an A.I. productivity boom lead to another disinflationary, high-growth miracle?
- Will the current energy shock impact the long-term inflation outlook?
- How should investors position their portfolios?
The Zoom call details will be forwarded in a calendar invite upon registration.
